Fanshawe College transformed a former downtown department store into a dynamic six-storey learning centre for tourism, hospitality and IT programs. The new facility features modern labs, bright and open classrooms and collaborative learning spaces for 1,600 students.
Roberts Onsite's structured cabling technicians installed 210 CAT6A cables for wireless access points throughout the 115,000 square foot building; as well as 1,500 CAT6 cables for workstations and classrooms.
Three separate IT rooms are the command centres for the building’s communications infrastructure. We installed pre-terminated Corning fiber as well as 100-pair CAT3 copper backbone fiber from the main building demarcation points to the fourth-floor IT room; then from the fourth-floor to the second-floor and to the sixth-floor IT rooms respectively.
All cables with the exception of the pre-terminated ones, were terminated and labeled by Roberts Onsite staff. All cabling including fiber was tested by Roberts Onsite.
