We are proud of our role in the dynamic Queen
Street Placemaking initiative that helped to transform Vogelsang Green,
the Kitchener Cenotaph, and areas of Queen Street in Downtown
Kitchener.
Our Utilities team addressed the electrical needs of
the project. We removed the existing streetlights along parts of Queen
Street and replaced them with 20 new decorative lights. We also
installed and powered catenary string lights that spanned most of the
light standards along the street.
Three power pedestals were
installed to service the project area along Queen Street, and the
Cenotaph with a fourth one installed to provide power for events at
Vogelsang Green.
More catenary lights were suspended to create a canopy crisscrossing above Vogelsang Green. Bollard lights at the Cenotaph were installed, adding ambient light and providing a subtle outline to the space.
