Before you climb, follow these steps to keep you and your team safe.
✅ CSA-approved ladder: Only CSA-approved ladder shall be used
✅ Inspect First: All ladders shall be visually inspected prior to use
✅ Stable Surface: Ensure ladders are placed on clean, even, firm, and stable surfaces
✅ The 4-to-1 Rule: For every 4ft up, pull the base 1ft out.
✅ Secure & Extend: Secure the ladder to prevent movement and ensure it extends 3ft above the top of a landing.
✅ 3-Point Contact: Always keep 2 hands and 1 foot (or vice versa) on the ladder at all times
✅ Never on the “Top Two": Never work from the top two rungs or steps of the ladder
✅ Stay Centered: Face forward and avoid overreaching.
✅ Fall Protection: When working at heights, ensure fall protection is in place before you climb.
