Roberts Onsite was contracted to install a Climate Wind Tunnel in collaboration with the consultant Aiolos Engineering Corporation and the University of Ontario Institute of Technology. This Climatic wind tunnel is designed to provide automotive manufacturers with testing capability to validate prototype products under a range of climatic conditions. The construction of a new “Climate Wind Tunnel” started with the unloading and installation of a 250 000 pound dynamometer from Burke Porter Machinery; The dynamometer capable of running both 2WD and 4WD vehicles by way of an elevator assembly and air bearing transport system. The 3000 square foot test chamber included the installation of support steel for the walls and ceiling as well as specially designed interlocking insulated panels that allowed the room to withstand all weather conditions from -40®c to 60®C and up to 240km/hr winds. In addition, we installed a Jamieson insulated door system and overhead doors. Our team was also responsible for the installation of the wind chamber’s conditioning screens. All work was completed on schedule and to the satisfaction of the customer.
