The MacDonald Cartier Airport is an international airport is located in Ottawa and serves between 4 – 5 million passengers annually. Roberts Onsite / Black & McDonald were hired to complete the turnkey upgrade of the airports Baggage Handling System. Upgrades include the selective demolition of existing conveyors (FKI Logistex), assembly and installation of new conveyors and the cut over of control systems from the old layout to the new layout without a disruption to the airport passengers or reduction in existing baggage handling capacity. Equipment supplied by Buemer is unloaded, unpacked, inventoried, warehoused and turnkey installed in both the public and the restricted access areas of the airport. The conveyor systems for both the Transborder and Domestic-International areas of the airport include equipment manufactured by Crisplant (Crisbag) and Glidepath and controls designed by Brock Solutions as well as many other specialty pieces by SICK and Safran. The entire project is being completed in harmony with existing operations without disruptions to the airlines, passengers or airport staff.
