The General Motors Ingersoll facility is home to the GMC Terrain and Chevrolet Equinox. Due to the continued success of these vehicles GM invested in significant upgrades to the 3 presses in their stamping facility. In partnership with Roberts Onsite all 3 presses ranging from 2500T – 3500T were retrofitted with new servo drive feedbar systems. The original mechanical systems were safely dismantled and new equipment was precisely installed complete with new electrical controls and a lube system. Along with the feedbar system upgrades the presses also underwent extensive refurbishments including new crown gears, main shafts, flywheels and brakes. Numerous cracks were identified throughout the presses which were repaired by gouging out the base metal and welding under strict procedures and inspection. Despite the many challenges the new systems were commissioned without incident ahead of schedule and on budget. Roberts Onsite continues to provide day to day multi-trade maintenance support for the entire GM plant with a contingent of full time trades staff available to work 24 hours per day 7 days a week.
