The General Motors Ingersoll facility is home to the GMC Terrain and the Chevy Equinox. Due to the success of these vehicles GM decided to expand their facility. The expansion consisted of a 340,000 sq ft addition to their body shop which will house a new robotic line for the next generation model.
Under a Design Build contract, Roberts Onsite was contracted to complete the electrical and mechanical requirements for the expansion including; 12 new 1.3 MBTUH roof top air houses complete with an Automated Building Management System, upgrade the existing weld water pumps, extension of the weld water piping, 4 new 2000kva 13.8kv/480v unit substations complete with busway and services for lighting and base building operating systems. In order to make this a safe worksite Roberts Onsite gave site specific safety orientation to every worker, supervisor and sub-trade as well as implementing pre-task plans, communicated daily to the trades people. This project was completed on time, on budget and without incident.
Roberts Onsite continues to provide day to day multi-trade maintenance support for the GM Plant with a contingent of full time trades staff available to work twenty four hours a day, seven days a week.
