Aisin Canada Inc. located in Stratford, ON, manufactures a range of products for Toyota including the Lexus model sunroof, doorframes, moldings and seating. Roberts Onsite was contracted by Aisin to relocate and upgrade the Roll Form Line from Aisin’s sister plant in Indiana. One of our project managers was on site in Indiana to observe the decommissioning of this line to ease the reconstruction at the Stratford plant. In order to minimize the down time our multi-trade group prepared all necessary services for the line in advance. Once the equipment was offloaded and placed all electrical, communication and mechanical services were connected, tested and commissioned. Roberts Onsite designed, fabricated and installed new guarding systems that were required to meet the much more stringent Ontario safety regulations. Our Automation Controls and Engineering division designed and built a new turn-key robotic unload station, this involved not only designing the unload station but integrating it with the existing line’s automation program. The existing control system and hardware was obsolete. As such a new control system was designed and built to allow critical items to be upgraded immediately and non-critical items to be upgraded as time and budgets permitted. A smooth project start-up allowed the customer to outperform the benchmark performance requirements set by their end customers. The project was completed on time and budget despite a very aggressive schedule.
